The ACA New York Section has always provided a tremendous amount of educational and professional development opportunities to camp professionals and professionals involved with youth and educational development through the programs listed below.

Tri-State Camp Conference
The Tri-State Camp Conference, in it's 27th year, continues to be the largest conference of camp professionals in the nation. Nearly 4,000 summer camp professionals gather to network, participate in over 200 program sessions and visit the 300-booth exhibit hall. This educational conference serves camp owners, directors, executives and staff by offering workshops and seminars on a spectrum of subjects pertaining to not-for-profit and private resident, day, travel and special population camps.


Summer Warm-Up 2008

Are you ready for camp to start? Spend a morning with the American Camp Association to warm-up your summer skills and learn new strategies to promote a healthy and fun camp culture. Summer Warm-Up 2008 (PDF) will have representatives from leading camp programs will facilitate exciting and new games, activities and rituals that you can share with your whole camp. Refreshments will be served.

EPIC Fall Conference
The EPIC Fall Conference committee develops an interactive and exciting one day educational conference. This conference will reach a wide range of EPICs and address issues such as; facility management, budgeting, staffing, marketing, staff management, and camper management. The Fall Conference committee develops a program that is germane to EPICs who have just entered the camp industry as well as those EPICS who have been in camping for several years and are taking on new roles with their organization. Information at the EPIC Fall Conference is presented in creative and interactive methods and is often coupled with opportunities to network and speak with other camp directors.

Morry Stein Fall Management Conference

The Morry Stein Fall Management Conference is designed to give camp owners, directors and executives an opportunity to address the most important business issues that are involved in the management of camps. Using these lessons, camp owners could improve profitability and further enhance their own business. This conference is offered bi-annually.


Joe Kruger Educational Conference

The Joe Kruger Educational Conference offers a unique opportunity to learn about children and adolescents from outstanding professionals in the field of Human Development. The sessions are presented by individuals who understand the challenges facing camps today. This conference is offered bi-annually.


Ben Appelbaum Day Camp Conference

The Ben Appelbaum Day Camp Conference is a one day conference committed solely to the enhancement of Day Camps, their owners, directors, staff and campers.


Resident Camp Conference

The Resident Camp Conference is a two day conference committed solely to the enhancement of Resident Camps, their owners, directors, staff and campers.


Cracker Barrel Conference

This informal discussion offers a valuable networking opportunity for ACA Members and vendors from the Tri-State Camp Conference.  The cracker-barrel discussions serve as an activity to connect people, facilitate discussion, and encourage the sharing of ideas, new information, and perspectives.


Lunch & Learn

Lunch & Learns give ACA New York Members an opportunity to attend complimentary seminars conducted by qualified speakers. The cutting edge industry topics that these sessions touch on vary from staff related issues to dealing with difficult children. These seminars are offered at least three times each year.

Not-For-Profit Round Tables
All not-for-profit camps Affiliated with the American Camp Association - NY are invited to attend regular round table sessions to discuss current issues.

Not-For-Profit Summer Wrap Up
Wednesday, September 24, 2008 — 9am-4:30pm.
Fresh Air Fund, Fishkill, NY. Join other Not for Profit Resident Camps serving low income clientele for a day of touring and sharing. The program will begin with a tour of Fresh Air Fund’s Camp Mariah and Camp ABC. After a networking lunch sharing your challenges and successes from the summer, choose from two of five facilitated sessions to discuss camper and staff recruitment and behavior, and outcome measurement. Business Roundtables
Business Roundtables focus on issues of particular importance to veteran camp professionals.  The roundtable is a strongly moderated workshop open to anyone interested in business aspects of today's camp industry.  It provides a forum for camp professionals to discuss issues relating to their own businesses and helps them stay current with the changing environment.
