What camp do you work for? What type of
camp is it?
I work for Camp Champions, a private residential
summer camp in the beautiful hill country
of Texas.
What is your title/position at camp?
Lower Boys' Director
How long have you been working
for camp, both seasonally and full-time?
I have worked with Camp Champions for
the past three years, and look forward
to many many more.
How did you get your start in camping? If
you started off seasonally, how did you
transition into your job as a full-time
camp professional?
I started in camping after my freshmen
year of college with Camp Laurel in Maine.
I spent the next three summers I spent
in Michigan with Camp Miniwanca. After
graduation I started with Champions as
the Retreat Coordinator and worked from
there.
What is your background in terms of major
in school, degree(s) and school(s) attended,
and if you had another career prior to
camping, what was it?
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree from
the National Champions Louisiana State
University in 2003.
What areas do you primarily focus on
in your role (staffing, camper recruiting,
programming, etc.)? Any other skills that
people can feel free to contact you about?
During the year, my biggest roles are
in camper and counselor recruiting in addition
to programming and heading up our internship
program.
What do you like to do in your free
time?
I recently ran in the Dallas Marathon
and am training for a relay race through
the southern part of Texas.
Where do you live/work and how can people
contact you?
I got married on December 22nd to my wife
who I met at Champions. She was involved
with Champions for 11 years. We now live
in Houston, TX where she goes to medical
school. I work from Houston during the
year and head back to camp during the summers.
