What camp do you work for? What type of
camp is it?
Morry's Camp which is the residential summer
component of Project Morry, a year-round
youth development organization. We
are a private not for profit program serving
6 at-risk communities in and around
New York City.
What is your title/position at camp?
Assistant
Director
How long have you been working
for camp, both seasonally and full-time?
I've completed 6 summers and this is currently
my 5th year working year-round
How did you get your start in camping? If
you started off seasonally, how did you
transition into your job as a full-time
camp professional?
I started working seasonally, first as
a kid specialist then a group leader. After
my college graduation I transitioned
into my full time position and took
on the role as boys community coordinator
during the summer.
What is your background in terms of major
in school, degree(s) and school(s) attended,
and if you had another career prior to
camping, what was it?
I graduated from the University
of Illinois with a degree in Public Health
Education.
What areas do you primarily focus on
in your role (staffing, camper recruiting,
programming, etc.)? Any other skills that
people can feel free to contact you about?
Primary contact for male campers
and their families, school year programming
in our kids schools and communities, male
staff hiring, ACA standards and NY
dept. of health.
(I'd be happy to speak with folks who are
doing the standards process for their camps.
This summer will be my second standards
visit I'll be organizing for Morry's Camp.)
What do you like to do in your free
time?
Fly Fish, hike and woodworking
