EPIC is an organization
started in 2004 through the ACA New York
office (but open to ACA Members of any
section) to provide educational and social
networking opportunities and events for
individuals in the camp industry. There
are no official EPIC membership requirements;
anyone is welcome to join as an attendee,
supporter or volunteer. To date, there
are hundreds of EPICs who have requested
to be on our e-mail list and receive information
about EPIC events.
EPIC
Programs and Opportunities
- Address
the educational and social networking
needs of the “non-established” camp
directors in our industry (i.e. new directors,
assistant/associate directors, full time
employees with other titles, seasonal employees,
and other camp professionals who just entered
or wish to enter the camp industry).
- Provide
programs that are interactive, innovative,
social and germane to where individuals
currently are in their career
- Are
experiential opportunities for EPICs
to learn, network, and give back within
the camp industry.

EPIC Tri-State Specialized Workshop
The EPIC Tri-State Specialized Workshop committee
develops programming for the EPIC Tri-State
Specialized Workshop. This essential
educational tool is intended to help kick
off Tri-State for attendees the EPIC way.
Our goal, as with all EPIC events, is not
only to help educate EPICs on a given topic
but to also allow them to experience and
practice the skills learned and network
with their peers. Previous conference topics
have included: Build a Camp, Being EPIC
in your organization and in the camp industry,
Influencing Your Camp Culture: How to Navigate
the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and Deliver
on Your Promises, Behavior Management Tool
Box and more.
EPIC Cares
The goal for EPIC Cares is to offer opportunities
to work with, network and learn from other
camp professionals through participating
in community service events. We look
forward to organizing spring and fall community
service projects each year. These
projects will allow EPICs to socialize
and build relationships with each other
while benefiting the communities around
New York City.
EPIC Social Networking
EPIC Social Networking provides EPICs
with the opportunity to meet and interact
with each other in a casual social setting.
Over the past couple of years EPIC has
provided events to bring individuals from
the camping industry together such as wine
and cheese, karaoke, book groups, evening
activity events during tri-state, snack
time at tri-state, and more. These social
networking opportunities are beneficial
to all EPIC's to meet and learn from one
another outside from the traditional conference
sessions.
EPIC Fall Conference
The EPIC Fall Conference committee develops
an interactive and exciting one day educational
conference. This conference will
reach a wide range of EPICs and address
issues such as; facility management, budgeting,
staffing, marketing, staff management,
and camper management. The Fall Conference
committee develops a program that is germane
to EPICs who have just entered the camp
industry as well as those EPICS who have
been in camping for several years and are
taking on new roles with their organization.
Information at the EPIC Fall Conference
is presented in creative and interactive
methods and is often coupled with opportunities
to network and speak with other camp directors.
More information on the 2008 EPIC Fall Conference
will be posted soon.
