The Benefits of Working at Camp

If you are an energetic person who loves being active, the outdoors and working with children, you should consider working at camp! The American Camp Association – New York Section Accredits hundreds of summer camps throughout the Northeast and helps to provide the camps with quality staff.

Here are a few of the many benefits to working at a summer camp!

Make a difference in the lives of children!
Working at a summer camp gives you the opportunity to be a positive role model for campers of all ages!

Improve your leadership skills and gain self-confidence!
While helping a child to learn a new skill (programmatically or socially), you are sure to improve your confidence in your own!

Meet people from around the world!
Most overnight camps, and some day camps, recruit campers and hire staff from all over the world. Learn so much more about other cultures and share your own!

Spend your summer outdoors!
Working at a summer camp will allow you to spend a lot of time enjoying the summer weather! Playing sports, hiking, swimming – so many aspects of camp make use of the outdoors!

Try new things!
Many camps allow their staff to use the program areas during their time off. Never played tennis? Give it a try!

Get college credit!
Depending on your major, you may be able to get college credit while working at a camp!

Do all of this while making money!
Not only will you make a positive impact on the world and learn so many new things, but you can also get a pay check at the end of it all!
